There is no way to quantify the risk of melamine introduced into the human food supply of products reasonably intended to be consumed by people. Those of us involved with animals have witnessed the danger of melamine to dogs and cats already. The FDA has monumentally failed to protect of us from the known risks of melamine being imported into the U.S. from China. Chinese manufacturers have admitted the beauty of melamine is that even under a microscope it appears to be protein and is almost indistinguishable. It has ONE value. That is to provide a very profitable filler for Chinese exporters sending consumable food products to the US. Except to purposefully injure both animals and humans while substantially increasing profits by concealing the true nature of the import, there is no reasonable explanation for the FDA and any State Health Departments to downplay the significance of the health risks for both animals and humans. Wake up product liability lawyers. You are on the cusp of a new and exciting field of consumer protection. Deep pocket government will have to answer first while the foreign exporters will have to pay for their greed. Where is the press?
