Art. 11.27. [139] [187] [177] HOW WRIT MAY BE SERVED AND
RETURNED. The writ may be served by delivering a copy of the
original to the person who is charged with having the party under
restraint or in custody, and exhibiting the original, if demanded;
if he refuse to receive it, he shall be informed verbally of the
purport of the writ. If he refuses admittance to the person wishing
to make the service, or conceals himself, a copy of the writ may be
fixed upon some conspicuous part of the house where such person
resides or conceals himself, or of the place where the prisoner is
confined; and the person serving the writ of habeas corpus shall,
in all cases, state fully, in his return, the manner and the time of
the service of the writ.
