§ 411.045. BUREAU OF TRAINING. (a) The director, with
the advice and consent of the commission, shall appoint the chief of
the bureau of training. The chief must have substantial experience
in law enforcement and in instruction of law enforcement officers.
(b) The bureau of training shall:
(1) establish and operate schools for training
department personnel in their duties and functions;
(2) establish and operate schools for training county
and municipal police officers who are selected to attend the
schools by the authorities of the law enforcement agencies that
employ them; and
(3) establish and carry out a comprehensive plan for
the education of citizens of this state in matters of public safety
and crime prevention and detection.
(c) The chief of the bureau of training shall organize
schools for department members and other peace officers and give
instruction in the schools.
(d) The adjutant general shall provide, for use of the
bureau of training in conducting its training schools, suitable
buildings, land, and state-owned equipment at Camp Mabry in Austin.
