§ 38.151. DEFINITIONS. In this subchapter:
(1) "Insurer" means:
(A) an insurance company or other entity that is
admitted to do business and authorized to write liability insurance
in this state, including:
(i) a county mutual insurance company;
(ii) a Lloyd's plan insurer; and
(iii) a reciprocal or interinsurance
exchange; and
(B) a pool, joint underwriting association, or
self-insurance mechanism or trust authorized by law to insure its
participants, subscribers, or members against liability.
(2) "Liability insurance" means:
(A) general liability insurance;
(B) medical professional liability insurance;
(C) professional liability insurance other than
medical professional liability insurance;
(D) commercial automobile liability insurance;
(E) the liability portion of commercial
multiperil insurance coverage; and
(F) any other type or line of liability insurance
designated by the commissioner under Section 38.163.
