§ 442.054. POWERS OF SPECIAL DEPUTY RECEIVER. (a) Unless restricted by the commissioner, a special deputy receiver has all the powers of a receiver granted under this code and may perform any act on behalf of the commissioner as receiver. (b) If expressly authorized by the commissioner, a special deputy receiver may employ employees and agents, legal counsel, actuaries, accountants, appraisers, consultants, and other personnel the special deputy receiver considers necessary to assist in the performance of the receiver's duties. The expenses of employing those persons are expenses of the receivership payable out of money or other assets of the insurer. Added by Acts 2005, 79th Leg., ch. 727, § 1, eff. April 1, 2007.
