§ 301.0675. PILOT PROGRAM; TEXAS-MEXICO BORDER REGION
TECHNOLOGY TRAINING. (a) In this section, "Texas-Mexico border
region" has the meaning assigned by Section 2056.002(e), Government
Code.
(b) The commission by rule may establish and implement a
pilot program in the Texas-Mexico border region under which the
commission may competitively procure adult technology training for
residents of the state who are workers displaced as a result of
trade dislocations or other changes in the state economy.
(c) If the commission establishes a pilot program under this
section, the commission may:
(1) use:
(A) existing state-funded technology
infrastructures to the extent possible to implement the pilot
program; and
(B) curriculum and instruction models developed
by the commission to implement Section 301.0674;
(2) obtain funds for the pilot program to the extent
possible from any state, federal, or private source; and
(3) collaborate with appropriate federal and state
agencies and local workforce development boards to implement the
pilot program.
(d) Not later than December 1 of each even-numbered year,
the commission shall submit to the governor, the lieutenant
governor, and the speaker of the house a report regarding the status
and results of a pilot program established under this section.
(e) This section expires September 1, 2007.
