§ 86.001. ELIGIBILITY TO SERVE AFTER BOUNDARY CHANGE. A person who has served as the constable of a precinct for 10 or more consecutive years before a change is made in the boundaries of the precinct is not ineligible for reelection in the precinct because of residence outside the precinct if the constable's residence is within the boundaries of the precinct as they existed before the change. Acts 1987, 70th Leg., ch. 149, § 1, eff. Sept. 1, 1987.
