§ 281. EXEMPT PROPERTY LIABLE FOR CERTAIN DEBTS. The exempt property, other than the homestead or any allowance made in lieu thereof, shall be liable for the payment of Class 1 claims, but such property shall not be liable for any other debts of the estate. Acts 1955, 54th Leg., p. 88, ch. 55, eff. Jan. 1, 1956. Amended by Acts 1997, 75th Leg., ch. 1302, § 10, eff. Sept. 1, 1997.
