§ 293. SALE TO RAISE FUNDS FOR FAMILY ALLOWANCE. If there
be no personal property of the deceased that the surviving spouse or
guardian is willing to take for such allowance, or not a sufficiency
of them, and if there be no funds or not sufficient funds in the
hands of such executor or administrator to pay such allowance, or
any part thereof, then the court, as soon as the inventory,
appraisement, and list of claims are returned and approved, shall
order a sale of so much of the estate for cash as will be sufficient
to raise the amount of such allowance, or a part thereof, as the
case requires.
