30-652. Radiation regulatory agency; director; duties

A. There is established a radiation regulatory agency.

B. The governor shall appoint a director pursuant to section 38-211 to administer the agency to serve at the pleasure of the governor. The director is entitled to receive compensation as determined under section 38-611.

C. The director shall:

1. Administer and enforce this chapter and the rules and regulations promulgated under this chapter.

2. Subject to title 41, chapter 4, article 4 and, as applicable, articles 5 and 6, employ, determine the conditions of employment and specify the duties of inspectors, technical assistants and other employees of the agency.

3. Subject to title 41, chapter 4, article 4, employ persons to act as investigators as deemed necessary by the agency to assist the agency in carrying out the powers and duties prescribed in this chapter.

4. Subject to title 41, chapter 4, article 4, employ consultants or persons possessing technical expertise as deemed necessary to assist the agency in carrying out the agency's powers and duties prescribed in this chapter.
