Arkansas Code § 14-301-203 - Petition to Undertake Improvements -- Notice -- Special Meeting

(a) If, within sixty (60) days after the adoption and publication of the resolution by the governing body of the municipality, petitions are filed with the clerk or recorder of the municipality containing the signatures of a majority in value of the real property owners in the municipality or the defined areas thereof requesting that the improvements be undertaken and financed in the manner as stated in the resolution adopted by the governing body of the municipality as authorized in ยง 14-301-202, the clerk or recorder shall set a date and place for a public hearing on the sufficiency of the petitions.

(b) Notice of the public hearing shall be published one (1) time in a newspaper of general circulation in the municipality not less than five (5) days prior to the date fixed for the hearing.

(c) The governing body of the municipality may hold a special meeting for the purpose of conducting the hearing.
