              Appeal No. 96-3690
              Application 08/234,516

                                                     The Rejections

                      Claims 14-16 and 18 stand rejected under 35 U.S.C. § 102(b) as being anticipated
              by Isaka.
Claims 14-19 stand rejected under 35 U.S.C. § 103 as being unpatentable over Isaka.
Claims 14-19 stand rejected under 35 U.S.C. § 103 as being obvious in view of Bothe.

                                                         Opinion

We have carefully considered the respective positions advanced by appellants and the
examiner. For the reasons set forth below, we reverse the rejection under 35 U.S.C. § 102
              and affirm the examiner’s rejections under 35 U.S.C. § 103.
At the outset, we note that appellants state on page 3 of the brief that the claims do not
stand or fall together. Appellants have grouped the claims as follows: Group I - claims 14-16
and 18, and Group II - claims 17 and 19. Accordingly, claims 15, 16 and 18 will stand or fall
with claim 14 while claims 17 and 19 will be considered to the extent that separate
patentability has been argued in accordance with 37 CFR § 1.192(c)(8)(iv) (1995).

                                                             -3-
