          Application No. 08/293,331

                                     BACKGROUND
The appellant's invention relates to a ceramic coated
electronic device. An understanding of the invention can be
derived from a reading of representative claim 54, which is
          reproduced below.
               54. A coated electronic device formed by a method
          consisting essentially of:
                    (A) coating the electronic device with a solution
consisting essentially of a solvent and hydrogen
                    silsesquioxane resin;
                    (B) evaporating the solvent to deposit a preceramic
coating on the electronic device; and
                    (C) heating the preceramic coating to a temperature
of between about 500 up to about 800EC under an inert gas
               atmosphere.
The sole reference of record relied upon by the examiner
in rejecting the appealed claims is:
Mine et al. (Mine) 5,370,904 Dec. 06,
          1994
Claims 54-56 stand rejected under the judicially created
doctrine of obviousness-type double patenting as being
unpatentable over claims 1-5, 12, and 13 of Mine (U.S. Patent
          No. 5,370,904).
