                                                                      BACKGROUND                                                                                    
                            The appellants’ invention relates to an apparatus for scrubbing a continuous flow of                                                    
                   gas.  An understanding of the invention can be derived from a reading of exemplary claim                                                         
                   1, which appears in the appendix to the Brief.

                   in view of either Dunn or Gleason or, in the alternative, Black in view of either Dunn or
