STATEMENT OF THE CASE
Appellants appeal under 35 U.S.C. § 134(a) from the Examiner’s final
rejection of claims 1-18, which are all of the claims pending in this
application. We have jurisdiction under 35 U.S.C. § 6(b).
Appellants’ invention relates to a modular plug-in connector to be
used in a distributed-configuration machine for generating, evaluating, or
relaying electrical, electronic, optoelectronic, or pneumatic control signals
directly at the unit to be controlled (Specification 1). According to
