                  Application 10/913,902
                  21. Kobe also discloses multilayer fastening systems, illustrated in
                  Figure 4, which is shown below:

                             {Figure 4 is said to show a multilayer fastening system.}
                  22. According to Kobe, the fastener system shown in Figure 4 comprises:
                  a first tape 53 having a fastening layer 12, an optional backing layer 31, a
                  mounting layer 17, and an optional removable liner 56; and a second tape 60
                  having corresponding layers (a second removable liner may be applied at
                  surface 63).  (Kobe at 6:47–55.)
                  23. Kobe teaches that the mounting layer 17 is preferably a pressure
                  sensitive adhesive.  (Kobe at 5:50–51.)
                  24. Kobe teaches further that the backing layer 31 can be any material that
                  provides the desired adhesion to and material compatibility with fastening
                  layer 12 and mounting layer 17. (Kobe at 6:13–30.)
                  25. Kobe teaches that the fastening system may be used on containers
                  such as envelopes. (Kobe at 5:38–43.)
                  26. According to Kobe, among the advantages of the refastenable contact
                  system is the reduction in contamination of the fastener structure. (Kobe
                  at 5:43–45.)

                                                            10
