                    said reversible vapor compression system including a                           
                    refrigerant circuit having at least:                                           
                          a first stage compressor for compressing refrigerant;                    
                          a flow reversing device connected to a downstream side                   
                    of the first stage compressor;                                                 
                          an interior heat exchanger connected to the flow                         
                    reversing device;                                                              
                          a first multi-function expansion device connected to the                 
                    interior heat exchanger;                                                       
                          an internal heat exchanger, connected to the first multi-                
                    function expansion device, for exchanging heat inside the                      
                    refrigerant circuit;                                                           
                          an exterior heat exchanger connected to the internal heat                
                    exchanger;                                                                     
                          a second multi-function expansion device connected to                    
                    the exterior heat exchanger;                                                   
                          an auxiliary heat exchanger through which coolant from                   
                    a vehicle drive system is circulated, said auxiliary heat                      
                    exchanger being connected between the second multi-function                    
                    expansion device and the flow reversing device; and                            
                          an accumulator connected in an operational relationship                  
                    through conduits between the flow reversing device and the                     
                    internal heat exchanger to form a closed main circuit,                         
                          wherein the inter-connection of the first stage                          
                    compressor, the interior heat exchanger, the exterior heat                     
                    exchanger, the internal heat exchanger, the accumulator, the                   
                    flow reversing device, the auxiliary heat exchanger, the first                 
                    multi[-]function expansion device and the second                               
                    multi[-]function expansion device are provided such that                       
                    ambient air and coolant circulated from the vehicle drive                      
                    system can both partially or fully be used as a heat source and a              
                    heat sink in a heat pump mode and a comfort cooling mode,                      
                    respectively.                                                                  
                    Thus, claim 29 is directed to a reversible vapor compression system            
              with a refrigerant circuit having the nine above-named components, for               
              heating or cooling a vehicle passenger compartment.
