388.1008b School for the blind; acceptance of gifts, grants, devises, and bequests; special fund; report.

Sec. 8b.

The state board of education may take by gift, grant from federal or other sources, devise, bequest, or in any other lawful manner, property, money, pledges or promises to pay money for the exclusive use of the school for the blind at Lansing or to be expended at any other place within the state for any purpose for the benefit of the school for the blind. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 8, the state treasurer shall transmit to the board all such moneys being held in the state treasury. The board shall place moneys and grants in a special fund to be spent as authorized by the superintendent of the school for the blind for the purposes for which they were donated subject to the conditions of such gift, grant, devise or bequest without further approval of the legislature unless additional costs to the state will be involved in the spending of the trust funds. A report of all funds received and expended under this act shall be reported to the senate and house committees on appropriations.
