388.1655 Conductive Learning Center; location; funding to Michigan State University.

Sec. 55.

(1) From the money appropriated in section 11, there is allocated an amount not to exceed $150,000.00 for 2015-2016 to Michigan State University, Department of Epidemiology, for a study of the Conductive Learning Center located at Aquinas College. This funding shall be used to develop and implement an evaluation of the effectiveness of conductive education for children with cerebral palsy. The evaluation shall be multidimensional and shall include a control group of children with cerebral palsy not enrolled in conductive education. It should include an assessment of the motor system itself as well as the impact of conductive education on each of the following:

(a) The acquisition of skills permitting complex motor functions.

(b) The performance of tasks essential to daily living.

(c) The attitudes and feelings of both children and parents.

(d) The long-term need for special education for children with cerebral palsy.

(2) It is the intent of the legislature that this funding is for the first of 2 years of funding for this purpose.
