New York Vehicle & Traffic Law Section 404-O - Distinctive "Olympic Spirit" license plates.

404-o. Distinctive "Olympic Spirit" license plates. Any person shall upon request be issued distinctive "Olympic Spirit" license plates in support of the Lake Placid olympic training center bearing the "Olympic Spirit" logo designed by the United States olympic committee and approved by the commissioner. Application for said license plate shall be filed with the commissioner in such form and detail as the commissioner shall prescribe.

2. A distinctive "Olympic Spirit" license plate issued pursuant to this section shall be issued in the same manner as other number plates upon payment of the regular registration fee prescribed by section four hundred one of this article; provided, however, that an additional annual service charge of twenty dollars shall be charged for each plate. Such service charge shall be transmitted by the commissioner to the comptroller for deposit into the United States Olympic Committee/Lake Placid Olympic Training Center Fund established by section eighty-four of the state finance law. Up to twenty percent of the moneys in the fund would be available to the department of motor vehicles to defray the costs of designing, producing, the availability of "Olympic Spirit" license plates.
