Oregon Statutes - Chapter 30 - Actions and Suits in Particular Cases - Section 30.290 - Settlement of claims by local public body.

The governing body of any local public body may, subject to the provisions of any contract of liability insurance existing, compromise, adjust and settle tort claims against the public body or its officers, employees or agents acting within the scope of their employment for damages under ORS 30.260 to 30.300 and may, subject to procedural requirements imposed by law or other charter, appropriate money for the payment of amounts agreed upon.
