§ 9.1-802. Medal of Valor Review Board

The Medal of Valor Review Board is established as an advisory board, within the meaning of § 2.2-2100, in the executive branch of state government. The Board shall be composed of seven members appointed by the Governor as follows: one police officer, one deputy sheriff, one paid firefighter, one volunteer firefighter, one corrections officer, one volunteer rescue squad member and one citizen member. The Virginia Public Safety Foundation may nominate persons to serve as Board members. The police officer, paid firefighter, corrections officer and citizen member shall serve four-year terms, and the remainder shall serve three-year terms. All terms shall commence July 1, 2002. No member shall serve more than two successive terms. A vacancy occurring other than by expiration of term shall be filled for the unexpired term.

Each year, the Board shall elect a chairman and a vice-chairman from among its members. A majority of the members of the Board shall constitute a quorum.
