§ 19.2-136. How bonds in recognizances payable; penalty

Bonds in recognizances in criminal or juvenile cases, where the violation is committed against the Commonwealth or where the Commonwealth is a party, shall be payable to the Commonwealth of Virginia. Bonds in recognizances in criminal cases where the violation is a violation of a county, city or town ordinance, shall be payable to such county, city or town. Every bond under this title shall be in such sum as the court or officer requiring it may direct.
