Provision of information on obligations and authority of
department of child services
Sec. 2. Before offering services under section 1 of this chapter to
a family, the department:
(1) shall explain that the department has no legal authority to
compel the family to receive the social services; and
(2) may inform the family of the obligations and authority of the
department to petition a juvenile court for a proceeding alleging
that the child may be a victim of child abuse or neglect.
