Section 45-1-100.01 - Superintendent of education.

(a) The Autauga County Board of Education shall appoint the Superintendent of Education of Autauga County pursuant to the general law of the state. The county superintendent of education shall possess all the qualifications prescribed for a county superintendent of education by the general law of the state, shall possess all the powers granted by the general law of the state, and shall perform and discharge all the duties of a county superintendent of education prescribed by the general law of the state. The Autauga County Superintendent of Education shall receive compensation in an amount set by the Autauga County Board of Education.

(b) Vacancies in the office of Superintendent of Education of Autauga County shall be filled for the unexpired term by appointment of the Autauga County Board of Education. The compensation of an interim appointee shall be set by the county board of education and the interim appointee shall serve at the pleasure of the county board of education.

(c) This section shall apply at the expiration of the term of office of the current county superintendent of education or upon any vacancy occurring in the office of the county superintendent of education after May 23, 2019.
