Section 45-43-70 - Appropriations from county treasury.

(a) Commencing with the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2010, the Lowndes County Commission may appropriate annually, out of the monies in the county treasury not otherwise appropriated, an amount not exceeding ten thousand dollars ($10,000) into a fund to be known as the contingent fund, which may be expended for any county purposes not otherwise provided by law which in the judgment of the Lowndes County Commission are in the best interest of the county. Any sums remaining unexpended in the contingent fund at the end of the fiscal year shall not revert to the county treasury, but the amount of unexpended funds shall be appropriated for the next succeeding year along with any funds which may be appropriated for that succeeding year provided the amount appropriated or expended in any fiscal year shall not exceed ten thousand dollars ($10,000).

(b) The Lowndes County Commission may establish procedures for the expenditure of the contingent fund.
