Section 45-44-150.02 - Compensation and expenses of commission members.

Commencing on June 1, 1996, the basic compensation of each member of the racing commission shall be two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500) per month. One member of the racing commission shall be required to be in attendance at the racetrack for each racing performance consisting of a designated number of races, although up to three members of the racing commission may be present for each performance. If a matinee performance consisting of a designated number of races and an evening performance consisting of a designated number of races occur on the same day, the matinee performance and the evening performance shall be deemed separate performances for purposes of compensating members of the racing commission for their attendance. Each member of the racing commission shall receive additional compensation of seventy-five dollars ($75) for each racing performance attended by such member in his or her official capacity. When travelling outside Macon County on official business for the racing commission, each member thereof shall receive additional compensation of one hundred dollars ($100) for each day or part thereof spent outside the county and shall be reimbursed for his or her actual expenses reasonably incurred in connection with such travel, including transportation, lodging, and meals, pursuant to written expense reports certified to be true and correct by such member. The compensation and expenses of members of the racing commission shall be paid out of the taxes and other monies collected by the racing commission in the same manner as other officers of the county are paid the compensation and expense reimbursement to which they are entitled.
