Section 45-48-70.24 - Emergency purchasing.

Each member of the commission shall have emergency purchasing authority as follows:

(1) Emergency purchases shall be restricted to equipment repair, parts and supplies where needed equipment is idle because of lack of such parts and supplies, and items required to alleviate dangerous traffic conditions or other conditions constituting a danger to the public. Such purchases shall not exceed the sum of five hundred dollars ($500) in any instance.

(2) When an emergency purchase is made, a requisition shall be prepared immediately in duplicate. The original and duplicate requisition shall be forwarded to the office of the commission on the day that the emergency purchase and requisition are completed, showing the name of the person or firm from which purchase is made and the office of the commission shall issue a confirming purchase order for the emergency purchase. The commissioner shall specify on the requisition the reason and cause thereof for such emergency purchase. The emergency purchase requisition shall be signed by the member of the commission requiring same.
