Section 45-49-72 - Creation; composition.

There is created, and shall be established on the first Monday after the second Tuesday in January, 1961, the County Commission of Mobile County, which shall be in lieu of the board of revenue and road commissioners of Mobile County and shall be composed of a president and two associate commissioners. The board of revenue and road commissioners is continued as the governing body of Mobile County until the county commission is established as provided in this subpart. It is provided, however, that should any vacancy occur in the membership of the board of revenue and road commissioners after August 7, 1957, but prior to the second Tuesday in January, 1961, the vacancy shall be filled by the Governor and the appointee shall hold his or her office until the first Monday after the second Tuesday in January 1961, and until his or her successor is elected and qualified, the provisions of any other law to the contrary notwithstanding. Upon the establishment of the county commission as herein provided, the board of revenue and road commissioners shall be abolished.
