Arkansas Code § 27-16-902 - Extension of Expiration Date of Licenses for Military Personnel

(a) Any person who enters a branch of the United States Armed Forces, and who is, at the time of entry into the United States Armed Forces, duly licensed to drive by the State of Arkansas, may, on a form furnished by the Office of Driver Services, apply for an official extension of the expiration date of his or her driver's license without additional fee.

(b) (1) Any extension of the expiration date applied for under the provisions of this section shall be acted upon by the office and shall be granted for a period not to exceed thirty (30) days after the applicant's first tour of duty, or release from active duty, whichever occurs first.

(2) The extension for the applicant may be denied by the office for good cause.

(c) The Director of the Office of Driver Services, upon approval of the Director of the Department of Finance and Administration, shall promulgate all rules and regulations necessary for compliance with this section.
