Appeal No. 1997-3738 Application No. 08/469,741 substituted benzoyl caprolactam (BCL) as a bleach activator or precursor. According to appellants' specification, the peroxygen compound and the bleach activator react in situ to form the corresponding peroxycarboxylic acid, i.e., a substituted peroxybenzoic acid. Claim 4 is representative: 4.
