A one-trip well completion method, comprising: running in a perforating gun and a packer on tubing; setting the packer; automatically releasing said gun from said packer as a result of setting said packer; firing said perforating gun; using pressure, physical movement or acoustical signaling or a combination thereof to set said packer and fire said perforating gun; removing said gun from the wellbore.
