                formula (III) are novel, and can be obtained as outlined below.”  (SX 2003, col. 2, lines 54-55).                        

                Shiokawa then proceeds to identify three specific compounds which can be used as the starting                            

                materials of formula (III), specifically:                                                                                

                        (1) 3-cyano-iminomorpholine of the formula:
