Appeal No. 2000-0240 Application No. 08/285,534 BACKGROUND Appellants’ invention relates to a distributed database management system which combines multiple physical databases together to make a logical database. An understanding of the invention can be derived from a reading of exemplary claim 39, which is reproduced below. 39.
