                                            DECISION ON APPEAL                                                   
                   This is a decision on appeal from the examiner's final rejection of claims 1, 2,              
             4-13, and 15-40, which are all of the claims pending in this application.  Claims 3 and             
             14 have been canceled.                                                                              
                   We AFFIRM-IN-PART.                                                                            
                   Appellants’ invention relates to an apparatus for detecting the presence of an                
             occupant in a motor vehicle.  An understanding of the invention can be derived from a               
             reading of exemplary claims 1 and 21, which are reproduced below.
