Appeal No. 2002-0875 Application 09/212,127 26, 28, 29 and 31 through 33. Claims 3, 4, 7, 10, 13, 14, 17, 20, 23, 24, 27 and 30 have been objected to.1 Invention The invention relates to electric motors, specifically to an electric motor where the rotor of the motor also functions as a drive wheel. See page 2 of Appellants’ Specification. As illustrated in Figure 1, the wheel 1 contains one or more (preferably, six) permanent magnets 2, which are preferably arranged in a circle, with opposite magnetic poles adjacent to one another. See page 12 of Appellants’ Specification. Referring to Figures 3 and 4, electromagnets 6 are attached to the structure 4 that supports the axle for the drive wheel 1. Such electromagnets 6 are arranged generally in a plane that is substantially parallel, but not within, the plane or planes 1 From our review of the record, we find many inconsistencies as to whether the claims are rejected or objected to.
