Representative independent claim 12 is reproduced as follows: 12. A cache manager for a network device coupled to a plurality of client devices capable of downloading objects, wherein said cache manager manages a cache storage containing a plurality of cached objects, each of which is associated with at least one client device that downloaded it, said cache manager comprising instructions for determining an amount of cache resource occupied by cached objects associated with each of a plurality of client devices, and removing cached objects from the cache storage to ensure that the amount of cache resource occupied by cached objects associated with any given client device does not exceed a predetermined threshold.
