Appeal No. 2003-0016 Page 2 Application No. 09/400,613 BACKGROUND The appellants' invention relates particularly to techniques for making electrical contacts for microelectric devices such as integrated circuit devices and contacts utilized with such devices (specification, p. 1). A copy of the claims under appeal is set forth in the appendix to the appellants' brief. The prior art references of record relied upon by the examiner in rejecting the appealed claims are: Thompson, Sr. 5,740,730 Apr. 21, 1998 Gademann et al. (Gademann) 5,866,951 Feb. 2, 1999 Claims 27 to 29 stand rejected under 35 U.S.C. § 112, second paragraph, as being indefinite for failing to particularly point out and distinctly claim the subject matter which the appellants regard as the invention. Claims 16, 20 and 21 stand rejected under 35 U.S.C. § 103 as being unpatentable over Gademann.
