                                    THE INVENTION                                     
               The appellants claim a device for registering the position             
          of a printing plate on the plate cylinder of a printing machine             
          by use of non-contacting sensors.  Claim 1 is illustrative:                 
               1.   A device for registering the position of a printing               
          plate on the plate cylinder of a printing machine, comprising:              
               non-contacting sensors responsive to being covered by a                
          printing plate, said sensors being provided on one of the plate             
          cylinder and an attachment device of the plate cylinder,                    
          respectively.

          and 17 under 102(e) as anticipated by Muth, claim 2 under                   
          35 U.S.C. § 103 as obvious over Muth in view of Fischer and                 
          Kleinberg, claim 4 under 35 U.S.C. § 103 as obvious over Muth,              
          and claim 15 under 35 U.S.C. § 103 as obvious over Muth in view             
          of Elliot.
