The appellant asserts that less staff is needed for his automated admissions as compared to controlling and following-up on paper-based documents or printed media. He further asserts that substituting automation for time consuming, labor intensive, and error-prone manual operation improves productivity and quality of service. (Id. at 2.) A portable card to be used in connection with a sporting event, the card comprising: a memory for stoning a card data template including an event ticket valid for said sporting event in the card; input/output means for entering into or retrieving from the card data including said event ticket; and decision means including a self-contained means for determining by said portable card if said event ticket is valid, in response to inputting into the card a set of appropriate information by a sporting event staff, and with no need for online verification and authorization from a remote entity. 33.
