Appeal No. 2004-1194 Page 2 Application No. 09/580,880 BACKGROUND The appellants' invention relates to the rotation of disks. More specifically, the invention relates to an improved roller for rotating semiconductor substrates within a tank fluid (specification, p. 1). A copy of the claims under appeal is set forth in the appendix to the appellants' brief. Claims 16, 17, 20, 22 to 24, 27 and 29 stand rejected under 35 U.S.C. § 102(b) as being anticipated by U.S. Patent No. 3,848,4031 to Bobkowicz et al. (Bobkowicz). Rather than reiterate the conflicting viewpoints advanced by the examiner and the appellants regarding the above-noted rejection, we make reference to the answer (Paper No. 16, mailed November 3, 2003) for the examiner's complete reasoning in support of the rejection, and to the brief (Paper No. 15, filed October 6, 2003) and reply brief (Paper No. 17, filed January 5, 2004) for the appellants' arguments thereagainst.
