DISCUSSION
I. Grouping of claims
Pursuant to 37 CFR § 1.192(c)(7), we shall decide the appeal
on the basis of representative claim 1 alone in view of the
appellants’ statement that “all of rejected claims 1-4 and 9
stand together for purposes of simplifying the issues on appeal”
(main brief, page 3). Hence, claims 2 through 4 and 9 stand or
fall with claim 1.
II. The merits
Eggert discloses a lower body platform unit for an
automobile. The unit includes a main floor panel 20 having a
medial tunnel portion 22, and an inverted channel-shaped front
seat base 74 secured across the floor panel 20 and forming
therewith a box-section beam 75 which adds strength and stiffness
to the unit.
