Appeal No. 2004-2312 Page 3 Application No. 10/135,517 with connections for very diverse peripheral devices and additional components with variable connection components in such a way that a simplified and more convenient utilization is made possible for the user” (translation, page 2). Schubring teaches that the connections shall be easily accessible, in order to put an end to cumbersome and difficult maneuvering in the rear area of the housing. Furthermore, the possibility of including retrofitting options for units that are already in use is to be provided. The invention as a realization of this objective is distinguished in that exchangeable connections (jacks and connectors) are provided via separate retainers and/or holding elements in the front area of the PC housing, whereas, coming from the connections, the connecting cables are guided to the connections that are located on the inside of the PC housing and are connected with them [translation, page 2]. In Figure 9, Schubring illustrates a computer housing provided with a “retainer pocket” (insertion slot or drive bay) 55 for receiving a connection box 40. After insertion and securement of the connection box 40 into the retainer pocket, the front face of the housing is covered with a visor 20 equipped with an opening 24 to retain a visor cover 56 for the connection box. As seen in Figure 9, cables having first ends coupled to the main PC board (mother board) of the computer and second ends connected to the face plate of the connection box 40 are provided to establish the connection between the ports in the face plate of the connection box and the main PC board. The details of the connection between the cables and the face plate of the connection box are illustrated in Figure 16. As explained by Schubring, openings are provided on the front face of the connection box, which serve to retain various jacks and connectors according to the needed size and the requirements.
