Appeal No. 2005-0783 Application No. 10/039,094 claims before us for consideration on appeal are claims 1-10 and 23-30. The appealed claims relate to a method of forming a grating on an optical fiber. The method involves the use of two laser beams which are respectively directed on two circumferentially displaced localities of the optical fiber. Claim 1, which is one of two independent claims, is illustrative of the subject matter encompassed by appellants’ claims: 1.
