The prior art references relied upon by the examiner in
rejecting the appealed claims are:
Goulait et al. (Goulait) 5,392,498 Feb. 28, 1995
Tachauer et al. (Tachauer) 6,180,205 Jan. 30, 2001
Claims 1 through 4 and 8 through 16 stand rejected under
35 U.S.C. § 102(b) as being anticipated by Goulait.
Claims 31 through 48 stand rejected under 35 U.S.C. § 103(a)
as being unpatentable over Goulait in view of Tachauer.
Rather than reiterate the examiner's full statement of the
above-noted rejections and the conflicting viewpoints advanced by
the examiner and appellants regarding those rejections, we make
reference to the answer (mailed October 11, 2005) for the
examiner's reasoning in support of the rejections, and to
