DECISION ON APPEAL This is a decision on the appeal under 35 U.S.C. § 134 from the examiner’s rejection of claims 1-3, 5-7, 9, 11-13, 15-17, 19, and 21, which constitute all the claims pending in this application. The disclosed invention pertains to a liquid crystal display device with a pixel electrode between a gate line and a data line with a switching device therebetween and a charging device on the gate line. A light-shielding member overlaps the switching device and extends from an end at the pixel electrode side of a metal thin film provided with the switching device into the pixel area.
