California Food and Agricultural Code Section 58623

CA Food & Agri Code § 58623 (2017)  

“Seafood” means shellfish and every other form of animal or plant life which is taken from fresh or salt water and used for human consumption, except seafood which is used for canning, retorting, reduction, or used in an extraction process.
