New York Highway Law Section 244 - Report of town superintendents, and levy of tax.

244. Report of town superintendents, and levy of tax. The town superintendent of each town shall make a full and verified report of their proceedings in the premises including an accurate account of what has been done in respect to such bridge, and shall attach thereto a copy of the order granted by the supreme court. Such report, account and order shall be certified by the town board and delivered to the supervisor and be presented by him to the board of supervisors of his county. The board of supervisors at their annual meeting shall levy a tax upon each of such towns, when in the same county, and upon the appropriate towns when in different counties, for its share of the costs of building, rebuilding and repairing such bridge, after deducting all payments actually made by the supervisor upon the written order of the town superintendent. Such tax, including all payments, shall in no case exceed the amount specified in the order of the supreme court.
