North Carolina General Statutes § 106-528 State policy and purpose of Article

It is declared to be the policy of the State of North Carolina and the purpose of this Article to promote, encourage and develop the orderly and efficient marketing of products of the home, farm, sea and forest; to establish, maintain, supervise and control, with the cooperation of counties, cities and towns, centrally located markets for the sale and distribution of such products, so as to promote a steady flow of commodities, properly graded and labeled, into the channels of trade at the time and place to enable the producer to get the market price and the consumer to get a product in keeping with the price paid.
