Oregon Statutes - Chapter 329 - Oregon Educational Act for the 21st Century; Educational Improvement and Reform - Section 329.810 - Training for mentors and beginning teachers and administrators.

(1) After consulting with representatives of teachers, administrators, school boards, schools of education, the Oregon University System and such others as it considers appropriate, the Department of Education shall approve training for mentors and beginning teachers and administrators in programs qualifying for grants-in-aid under ORS 329.788 to 329.820.

(2) The training curriculum for mentors shall be based on research and knowledge of the needs of beginning teachers and administrators.

(3) Mentors shall be trained to build relationships of trust and mutual collaboration with beginning teachers and administrators.

(4) Mentors shall receive professional development before the school year begins and throughout the school year. [Formerly 342.792; 2001 c.317 §8; 2001 c.382 §5; 2007 c.863 §6]

329.810. After consulting with representatives of teachers, administrators, school boards, schools of education, the Oregon University System and such others as it considers appropriate, the Department of Education shall develop or approve workshops to provide training for mentors and beginning teachers and administrators in programs qualifying for grants-in-aid under ORS 329.788 to 329.820.
